Terlingua: No Man's Land · Feb 29, 09:22 AM

It’s almost a 600 mile one way trip to Terlingua, Texas. That’s about 9 glorious hours in a vehicle. The race site is just a stone’s throw from Big Bend National Park and some of the most desolate and prestine natural landscape in TX.
The race itself is a 100K, or two 31 mile laps in the desert. Surprisingly there is quite a bit of climbing out there and its a great roadie course. I was happy how I rode, made some mental notes for next year about sticking some extra peanut butter sandwhiches in my pocket, and beat my time from last year by 25 mins.

You gotta be careful when you drive down a dirt road with the kids in the back. They tend to get a lil muddy when left unattended.

The sunsets behind our motel outweighed the non potable water issues in the rooms. This place was literally out in the middle of no where!

Pre riding with a hydra pack was good test to see how to hydrate for race day. I went the old skool water bottle route sine I had someone to get my feeds every few hrs.

There are just a handful of restaurants in the Terlingua area. The Kosmic Kowgrrl and The Starlight are some biker favorites. There is an old ghost town that has lots of neat fallen adobe dwellings. Reminds me of down town Waco…
